Timing

Villa del Balbianello is first of all a tourist attraction, we can say it is the most visited place on Lake Como. It is open to the public on Sundays, Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm. Small Ceremonies or elopements can take place during the opening times. Villa Del Balbianello is open from mid March to end of October but to enjoy a nice weather on the lake we recommend from mid April until beginning of October.

Ceremony

Villa del Balbianello has a special agreement with the local town hall so legally-binding ceremonies can be celebrated at the villa. Civil ceremonies can take place every day of the week when the villa is open. Villa del Balbianello is closed on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is important to keep in mind that there is to pay an extra charge to the local authorities for licensed ceremonies. Costs are from 1800 euro, price varies according to the time of the day and day of the week.

Transportation

You can reach Villa del Balbianello only by boat. So we suggest to stay in hotels in the areas like Tremezzo or Bellagio. If you decide to stay at Villa D’Este consider that it will take 45 minutes by boat. Only vendors can access the place by car: the road is narrow and steep and there is no parking area at the top entrance.

Areas for your ceremony

Villa del Balbianello is mainly a museum. Events can take place in a few dedicated outdoor areas and inside the building on top of the hill called “Segrè”. Ceremonies can take place under the “arches” at the area called Loggia Durini.

Wedding Dinner

Wedding receptions can take place at Villa del Balbianello, only authorized caterer companies can work at the villa. Caterer companies have a dedicated area where they can place their kitchen to be able to cook everything on site
